RadioShack Sells Its Brand for $26.2 Million
So despite going bankrupt and having their retail locations picked at by Sprint, RadioShack will still somehow live on. RadioShack’s Trademark, branding, and customer data was bought up by a hedge-fund called “Standard General LP”. This acquisition allows Standard General and Sprint to keep “more than 40% of RadioShack’s” brick-and-mortar stores open.
Sprint intends on selling their wireless service within these stores along with a “streamlined array of necessities” – whatever that means.
Does this seem like a smart on Sprint’s part? I mean, I hope they can pull it off, but I can’t help but look at their history of bad decisions over the past decade. They nearly went bankrupt themselves, after all.
