Nintendo Announces their New HD Console: Wii U
Nintendo just announced their new HD console at E3 today with yet another unique controller. This will be the first Nintendo console to feature 1080P content, bringing it into the spotlight for today. So far, the console has a strong lineup of cross-platform titles coming to the system.
The Wii U features HDMI, an SD Card expansion bay, 4 USB 2.0 ports (possibly for accessories and/or external storage), and an IBM processor, said to be similar to one of the cores that powers the IBM Watson. One unique feature is the optional 6.2″touchscreen controller which features front and rear cameras, motion sensors, gyroscopes, a microphone, speakers, standard Nintendo Wii buttons, plus 2 joysticks, a D-pad, shoulder buttons & triggers, and the standard AB XY Nintendo buttons. It was described as having the capability of playing the games on the handheld instead of using a television screen. Despite its look, it is not a portable gaming system – but honestly, if they put out one like this, they would sell like crazy.
The system has surprised many people, as this is the first time in years Nintendo has gotten some serious cross-platform games. Nintendo has once again turned over an E3 event with another innovative and unique game system.
Cross-platform titles so far include: Aliens Colonial Marines, Assassin’s Creed, Batman: Arkham City, Darksiders II, Dirt, Ghost Recon Online, Metro Last Light, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor’s Edge, and a new Tekken game.
