Huge Increase In Playstation 3 Trade-ins
With the Sony Playstation Network going on week 3 of being down, retailers have reported mass trade-ins for the PS3 systems and cancelations of preorders for the console. According to Next-Gen's reports, Playstation 3 trade-ins have increased 200% in the last few weeks and cross-platform purchases have swayed towards the Xbox 360.
One can only speculate to when Sony's PSN will be back up and if they can ever fully recover from this catastrophe. According to the latest reports, portions of the Playstation Network will be going up this upcoming week – with the full reboot launching by the end of the month (yes, 41 days after the shutdown). This is seen by many as too long of a wait – especially the most recent games being cross-platform releases, such as Portal 2, Mortal Kombat, and Brink. The 360 keeps looks more and more appealing when you're looking to play the latest online games. Hopefully Playstation will bounce back so we don't end up with a dominated market.
